Dear all,
Yesterday night we were feeling very very tired, after all it was the trip, assembling the bikes and cycling 42km under quite some heat. We slept quite well, but I woke up feeling a bit sick. Loads of headache, throat ache, nose stucked and maybe a bit of high temperature. The fact that it is common here to have air conditioners with a quite low temperature and all the temperature differences from going in and out of buildings also did not help. Well, I should be feeling better soon!
Chana left around 10h and we stayed home a bit longer deciding where to go first.
We had breakfast at 7 eleven (I do recall this shop name when I was living in Denmark, here you find it everywhere). Drinks and sweet were good, but the sandwhich, oh my gosh, the worse of our lives so far!!!
We decided to take the BTS towards National Stadium. BTS is a train that is running on an elevated viaduct.

When we got to The National Stadium we were appraoched by a tuktuk driver asking where we were going and that he could take us around for about 1 hour, including the place where we wanted to go. He asked only for 20 bath, and I asked Marta to pay right away, in order not to be asked for more money afterwards. Well, he drove us around, and said that he has a boat that could take us, but we replied that our friend was going with us in the following day.
He asked if we were in honeymoon, but we said that no, we are not married, just came on holiday. He started to talk about his shop, that he would take us there! We said that we cannot buy anything because we are travelling by bicycle, so we have no space. You should see how his face turned from smilley to pissed off! We went out of the tuktuk, but first I had to tell him: what you did was not nice, can you take us to the palace, as promised? He said that no, the palace was very far. We had no clue where we were, but after walking to the next crossing, we found out the train station!
We walked a bit through China Town again, trying to reach the river. It is impressive the amount of people that approach you, saying that they have a boat and can take you through the water channels for a tour.
We kept walking till we found the public boats, afterall we like to experience what locals do, not what tourists see!

We went out close to Wat Pho, which is the Laying Budha, one of the highlights of Bangkok.

I was feeling quite sick at this moment, it was really not easy to stand. Luckly the temperature was a bit lower and it rained a bit. When you have light rain with this temperature even feels nice as it cools you down!

The laying Budha impresses by its size, and all the temple itself has quite a lot to see! We would recommend it.

At this point the stucked nose and body hurting was way too much, so I stoped by a seat and had a nap, while Marta went to see some more of the temple:

After leaving Wat Pho, we knew that the palace that it is nearby was about to close, so we decided to walk a bit longer to the park just to chillout a bit. Gosh, I was feeling terribly sick and sleepy, so I had a nap just there:

We decided to return to the pier, to catch a boat and go a bit more up in the river, to try one of Chana's favourite restaurante. It turns out that there was the river festival in Bangkok, so the boat ride was free, but only going down the river. Well, sometimes not having a plan is the best plan! So we reached Asiatique, which is at the riverside, where young people usually hangout. Because of the festival they had some traditional dances and music, loads of street food and some other attractions.

We returned home by boat and BTS, as Chana was free from work after 9PM.
We still shared some street food, that we took home and we chatted for a bit, but I fell asleep quite early. I am not sure if is because I was feeling sick, simply the jetlag, or the combination of the two, but Jesus, all I wanted was to sleep!
That's all for now folks!
Best,
Peter & Marta
